Meet Valora Volumptua
My life has always been a search for what helps people thrive.
At eleven years old, I picked up Siddhartha and found myself captivated by questions of consciousness, meaning, and what it truly is to live a fulfilling life free of suffering. I grew up between two very different worlds - a Buddhist mother who introduced me to spirituality & the quest to know peace and love, and an analytical biochemist father who nurtured a deep respect for science, curiosity and inquiry. Those influences taught me to value both intuition and evidence, heart and mind.
My own path, however, has been anything but peaceful. Growing up alongside my mother's severe mental health challenges and navigating my own emotional struggles throughout adolescence forced me to confront suffering early. It also sparked a lifelong commitment to understanding myself and what makes genuine healing possible.
Again and again, nature became my teacher. Time outdoors reminded me of a quieter wisdom beneath the noise of intense emotions, conditioning, and self-deprecation, a place where I felt more connected to myself and to something larger than myself. I learned to breathe into spaciousness and find joy in the small wonders of life. I learned Spirit through the way the juicy plums ripened on our family trees outside our tiny suburban home, and the way the salamanders liked the cold, damp undersides of the wood pieces strewn out back.
Perhaps it's no coincidence that I was given the birth name Valora, meaning "brave one." Over the years, courage has become less about fearlessness and more about a willingness to stay present with what is true... to look with eyes wide open and be open to discovery. Later, I was also given the name Volumptua, a name that beautifully reflects the marriage within me of Volupta, the daughter of Cupid and Psyche, and the wholehearted, sumptuous way I seek to inhabit life. To me, it symbolizes the integration of love and soul, sensuality and depth, pleasure and transformation with the pleasure.
I believe our relationships are among life's greatest teachers. The most profound growth in my own life has come not from avoiding difficulty, but from being willing to stand in the fires of relationship, be it romantic, friendship, or familial, allowing love to reveal my defenses, challenge my stories, and invite me into greater honesty, compassion, and freedom.
Today, that's the space I aim to offer others.
I believe growth isn't about merely fixing ourselves. It's about expanding our capacity to love, to feel, to tell the truth, to come to know what's going on inside and to remain present when life asks more of us. It comes from becoming more deeply acquainted with how the inner reflects in the outer; our patterns, our longings, our fears and to face them with presence. Whether we're exploring the Enneagram, navigating romance and sexuality, or working through life's inevitable challenges, my passion is helping people cultivate the awareness, emotional maturity, and courage to create relationships that are deeply alive, resilient, and aligned with who they truly are.
I'm not interested in helping people simply feel better. I'm interested in helping them grow into becoming more conscious, more wholehearted, more vitalised, and more fully themselves.

Humboldt State University, CA - 2014 Graduate B.S. Zoology
My background in Zoology, with a focus on evolutionary and developmental biology, taught me to see humans through the lens of adaptation, complexity, and growth. It instilled a deep respect for scientific inquiry that continues to complement my work exploring the psychological, relational, and spiritual dimensions of being human.

My Philosophy & Approach
I believe that growth begins with awareness. We can't change what we don't understand, and we can't choose differently until we become conscious of the patterns quietly (or not so quietly!) shaping our lives.
Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" I invite clients to explore a different question: "What has this pattern been trying to protect?" Our habits, defenses, and coping strategies aren't signs of failure, they're intelligent adaptations that once helped us survive. Together, we learn to honor their purpose while cultivating the freedom to choose new ways of relating to ourselves and others.
My work draws from modern psychology, the Enneagram, somatic awareness, inner parts work, pleasure practices, mindfulness, Classical and Neotantra, attachment theory, and relationship & sexuality science, while remaining grounded in curiosity, experiential as well as scientific inquiry, and a deep respect for the complexity of human development. I believe lasting growth happens when insight is paired with embodied practice.
Above all, I see relationships as one of life's greatest catalysts for growth. Whether we're exploring your relationship with yourself, a romantic partner, your work, or your community, I believe our connections reveal both our deepest wounds and our greatest opportunities to mature.
I'm less interested in helping people simply feel better than I am in helping them become more capable of living well; with greater awareness, emotional maturity, authenticity, and the courage to love wholeheartedly.
My vision of human flourishing extends beyond the individual. I believe that our wellbeing is inseparable from the wellbeing of our communities, and that meaningful growth asks us to consider both our personal patterns and the larger systems in which they exist. While I invite clients to cultivate greater awareness, courage, and responsibility in their own lives, I also recognize that healing unfolds within social, cultural, and economic contexts that profoundly shape our opportunities and experiences.
As part of that commitment, I offer a limited number of sliding-scale coaching spaces each year, with the intention of making this work more accessible to those who have historically faced barriers to it. I see this as one small expression of my belief that personal transformation and collective liberation are not competing aims—they are deeply connected.
